Level up! The next stage for Square Enix Collective

Welcome to the new and improved Square Enix Collective

Welcome to the new and improved Square Enix Collective

Yes, we know, how can something be new AND improved? But it really is the case. Not only do we have a brand-new logo (look at all the wonderful colours) we also have a brand new website. Feel free to look around, but after you read this post of course.

The improvement part comes in on how we, as a part of Square Enix, help support the amazing indie videogame sector - an industry that provides so many unique and amazing experiences from teams small and large.

However, before we go deeper into what has improved, let’s take a quick glimpse at Collective’s history and how it has changed and evolved over time to become what it is today.

We know that the logo is at the top and we've already spoke about it, but look at this awesome animation.

Humble Beginnings to the Here and Now

Six years ago, a certain person at Square Enix (Square Enix Collective's boss Phil Elliott) was looking into ways to empower the community more in game development and publishing decisions, and noticed that the indie games sector was being missed by unaware members of the public - and so hidden gems were going unnoticed. Thus Square Enix Collective was born; a pitching platform dedicated to helping indie developers build an audience for their games by tapping into the wider Square Enix community.

By 2015 he assembled a crack team of professionals to work for Collective and assist in raising community awareness for hundreds of game pitches, as well as helping raise over one million dollars, via Kickstarter, for several different projects.

Today, to fit the ever-changing landscape of video game publishing and development, Collective now directly works with indie devs from around the world supplying support, advice and publishing services.

But what does this mean to you?

That is the burning question and depends on what video games mean to you.

Are you a fan of video games? Then not only can you look forward to Square Enix publishing big AAA titles like the upcoming Marvel's Avengers, OUTRIDERS or the next FINAL FANTASY; but also amazing indie titles such as racing gem Circuit Superstars, the unlimited MMO Boundless, or brain-scratching, first-person puzzler The Turing Test.

If you’re an indie developer, you now have another route for getting your gaming project published, no matter where you are in the world or what stage you are at in development. If you have a title you want to pitch for PC or consoles, then get in touch with us via our contact form.

If you are both (which is possible as they’re not mutually exclusive) then take both points above and mush them together.

We can’t wait to share with you more news about our up-and-coming titles, but we need to be up front and honest with you, and it’s likely you heard this line so much that you can guess it already, but due to the global pandemic everything has been kicked out of alignment. However, we’re starting to get back on track and once we have more solid details you’ll be able to hear about it first on here and our social channels.

So, what do you think of our new logo and site and vision going forward? Reach out to us on the social platforms of your choice and let us know!
