Deadbeat Heroes – Collective Memories

You don’t need to be super to be a hero

Hello old chum and welcome to this week’s scrupulously delicious Collective Memories looking at the beat ‘em up Deadbeat Heroes. Are you sitting comfortably? Got your power glove strapped on tight? Jolly good, on to the trailer.

Imagine, London, The 70’s

Captain Justice is in need of new recruits - and he’s found one in you, Felix! Armed with your brand-new power glove it’s up to you to take on the dastardly villains plaguing London. It’s time to get your groove on which means that instead of traveling from Kew Gardens up to Baker Street on the stuffy Tube, you get to trek about using your funky moped scouter instead. In between missions, chill out at the hero’s pad where you can brush up on new groovy moves and take what you’ve learnt to the max in the gym. Here’s the lowdown - a hero’s life isn’t easy, but if you put the time into it you might be able to make the best of it yet.

This isn’t Queensbury rules

It’s up to you to beat up and clear out the nefarious goons that are causing a stir in London’s hotspots. But you’re a young and hip upcoming superhero, long gone are the days where you just slowly dole out the beatings one at a time to single standalone thugs, waiting to receive their beat down. To get the most out of your souped-up power glove you’ll need to keep on the move and mix up wall-running and aerial assaults in amongst all of the jabs and punches. It’s all about providing a show for any innocent civilian watching, while simultaneously saving them so they can give you cash rewards. If you feel like the odds are stacked up against you, plug in a second controller and have a friend join the fray. Challenge each other on who can hit the highest combo for a level. There’s not even a need to worry about friendly fire (or should that be friendly melee) but watch out for environmental damage, an exploding crate can’t distinguish between hero or foe. Deadbeat Heroes is a perfect game for when you’re looking for something a little different between bigger titles. Especially big beefy games like Life Is Strange or Marvel’s Avengers. Each level is a short bout to test your fighting skills and work your combo meter up to the max.
